for use by scientific programs for personnel transfer and for general
utility
work. Gasoline for the motor is always carried aboard the ship. Its
size
requires that considerable clear space be provided on the Main Deck for
this
purpose. The boat is operated by a member of the ship’s
crew.
An
additional Achilles inflatable boat suitable for diving operations is
warehoused
at WHOI and may be requested.
