Ocean Life Institute Research ThemesThemes
To focus its activities, OLI has established three theme areas for research and technology.

ProjectsProjects
OLI supports research grants from WHOI investigators in all departments, with an emphasis on interdisciplinary studies and new approaches consistent with OLI themes. Proposals are reviewed by an ad-hoc panel and awards made for 2-year periods.

FellowsFellows
OLI supports Institute Fellows, who are awarded 2-3 months of salary support annually for a 3-year term, during which they pursue research interests that fall within the OLI theme areas, and contribute to the guidance of OLI activities.

InitiativesInitiatives
Information about OLI's initiatives, including the Tropical Research Initiative and the North Atlantic Right Whale Initiative.

FacilitiesLiquid Jungle Lab
Wild and remote, the Pacific coast of Panama looks like paradise. A new facility located there will offer scientists a unique research opportunity.

The Marine Mammal Center at WHOI uses comprehensive basic research complemented by cutting-edge technology to solve major scientific and conservation problems.
