...Period of gusty northeast winds and heavy rain forecast for coastal New England late Tuesday into early Thursday...

Details:  The complex frontal system which at the time of last week's outlook appeared
as though it would come through with limited fanfare is now in the process of evolving
into a late spring nor'easter.  It is forecast to move from the Carolina coast Tuesday to
between Nantucket and George's Bank Wednesday then into Nova Scotia Thursday.
This fast moving but intensifying storm is forecast to produce 0.50 to 1.50 inches of rainfall across south coastal southern New England into extreme southwest Maine with 0.25 to 0.75
inches expected along the central and eastern Maine coast. It will also produce an 18 to 24 hour
period of northeast winds which could reach sustained speeds of 15 to 30 kts at the time of the
low's closest  approach through the offshore waters.  Offshore flow will follow this system into the Weekend.
