The LewTech system for acoustic detection of vessels from a mooring will be mechanically packaged by WHOI for field deployment on the Bermuda Testbed Mooring (BTM). The system will be installed on BTM during the spring 2007 turnaround. This system will not utilize hardwired telemetry on the mooring but may communicate acoustically with a unit on the surface buoy, and via satellite telemetry to shore. LewTech or others will provide all electronics and telemetry components and the necessary batteries to power them. WHOI will design and fabricate the mooring frame and necessary buoy mounting pieces for the components. One WHOI person will travel to Bermuda for the installation of the system components on BTM during the turnaround period.
