OverviewThere are two reasons for a transfer within the Institution:
1. An employee applies and is selected for a position that has been posted within the Institution; or
2. An employee is faced with termination because of lack of work/funding in a project.
I. Transfer through Posting
If an employee feels qualified for a position which has been advertised within the Institution, application should be made through Human Resources. A copy of the employee's most recent evaluation report will be included with the file when it is forwarded for review, along with the present supervisor's statement of opinion regarding the transfer.
II. Transfer through Lack of Funding
A. If an employee is notified that continued employment is uncertain due to lack of funding, the employee should check the list of vacant positions published by Human Resources. If there is a suitable opening, application should be made through Human Resources.III. Levels of Approval for Transfer
A. Technical Staff and Departmental Assistants: see the Appointment and Promotions Handbook "The Blue Book" (pdf).
