The marine bacteria Trichodesmium come in a rainbow of colors. Cells from three different cultures of the
marine bacteria Trichodesmium have been concentrated on a filter and
then popped in a buffer so the cells' pigments can be analyzed. The
diversity of pigments may allow different species to use different
colors of light for photosynthesis.
