PLANKTONIC COLLAGE?Biological oceanographer Mary Wilcox Silver assembled this photographic quilt of various microscopic plants, animals, fecal pellets, and other marine detritus resulting from a phytoplankton bloom in the North Pacific Ocean. (Collage by Mary Wilcox Silver, University of California, Santa Cruz)
