The tiny offspring of two species of deep-sea corals from Antarctica changed from shapeless larvae into tiny, tentacled corals within 24 hours of brooding. Biologist Rhian Waller of the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution watched the transformation during a spring 2006 cruise to Antarctica. She continued to monitor the development of seven surviving larvae she brought back to WHOI.
