Jerry F. McManus and Delia W. Oppo

Jerry McManus and Delia Oppo both grew up in New York City, occasionally venturing to the white sands of Jones Beach and the green fields of Yankee Stadium. Each earned a Ph. D. in geology from Columbia University and initially came to WHOI as postdoctoral scholars. They have worked together on 15 papers that involve the ocean and climate history of the North Atlantic. Delia's two boys, Ryan, 15, and Troy, 12, are both Yankees fans. Jerry has twin sons, 10. Aidan also favors the Bronx Bombers, but Brennan is inexplicably a wicked strong Red Sox fan.
