Rachel Horwitz

Handed a mask and fins and sent to play in the crashing surf, Rachel Horwitz got her start at WHOI as a Swashzone Student Fellow in AOPE. Four months on a beach made oceanography seem like a pretty sweet job and two years at the USGS Woods Hole Science Center made Woods Hole feel like home. Now a PhD student in Physical Oceanography, Rachel studies wind-driven circulation just south of Martha’s Vineyard, MA. The mask and fins were most recently used to collect quahogs for dinner.
