Bon Voyage Alvin

On May 25, R/V Atlantis left Woods Hole for Astoria, Oregon, carrying the newly overhauled and upgraded submersible Alvin. From Astoria, Atlantis will carry the remotely operated vehicle (ROV) Jason on two cruises before commencing withAlvin's certification and verification dives. Once complete, the sub (which is just visible in the hanger on the stern of Atlantis) will resume its 49-year career of exploration in support of ocean science.
