The Gulf of Maine Ocean Observing System (GoMOOS)
Martha's Vineyard Coastal Observatory (MVCO)
Front-Resolving Ocean Network with Telemetry (FRONT)
Long Term Environmental Observatory-15 Meters (LEO-15)
Chesapeake Bay Observing System (CBOS)
Field Research Facility (DUCK)
South Atlantic Bight Synoptic Offshore Observatory Network (SABSOON)
South Florida Ocean Measurement Center (SFOMC)
Other Research Websites
Individual investigators at each ECCOO observatory have identified interesting and useful websites that provide importent information for their research. The ECCOO website has assembled a selection of these websites in one place that should be of general benefit of the community. Additional sites will be added as they are identified.

GLOBEC Georges Bank
A mulit-institutional and multi-disciplinary research program with the goal of understanding the population dynamics of key species on Georges Bank. The effects of the physical environment on various life stages of these species is an important focus of this program. GLOBEC has conducted a large field program and is a significant source of recent oceanographic data.

Coastal Ocean and Fluid Dynamics Lab
The COFDL at WHOI focuses on fluid dynamic processes affecting the transport of solids, dissolved constituents, momentum and energy within the oceanand across its boundaries. Research projects are often conducted at ECCOO observatories or are relevant to them.

USGS Coastal Ocean Modeling
Modeling projects, including "Boston Harbor Sewage Dispersion" and "Upwelling in Massachusetts Bay" are demonstrated through video animations. Fly-by movies of the bathymetry of New England coastal embayments (e.g., Buzzards Bay, Long Island Sound) can also be viewed.

NOAA Status and Trends
Since 1984, the NS&T Program has monitored spatial and temporal trends of chemical contamination and biological responses to that contamination. Including "benthic surveillance" and "mussel watch" projects, samples have been analyzed from 240 US coastal sites. The raw data from these analyses are available.

USGS Geological Survey-Woods Hole
The USGS Woods Hole Field Center located in Woods Hole, MA is part of the Marine and Coastal Geology Program of the US Geological Survey which conducts research and makes scientific information available to the public. Summaries of current research projects and resulting scientific data are available.

Maryland Center for Environmental and Estuarine Studies
CEES is the environmental research institution in the University of Maryland system, focusing much of its research on the Chesapeake Bay and its watershed. CEES programs are conducted through its three laboratories, Appalachian Environmental Lab, Chesapeake Bay Lab and Horn Point Environmental Lab.

Gulf of Maine Research Information System
Research Environmental Data and Information Management System (REDIMS) is a multi-institution collaborative to assemble oceanographic data, bathymetry and model results for easy access by researchers and managers. REDIMS includes an address list of Gulf of Maine researchers and a searchable bibliography ofscientific literature.

Dartmouth College Modelling Lab
Numerical modelling of environmental and biomedical processes, including circulation models of Georges Bank and the Gulf of Maine.

NODC Water Temperature Guide to US Beaches
Climatological average water temperatures based on NOAA-NOS tide stations and NOAA-NWS buoys. Averages cover multi-year to multi-decade data, depending on the station.

Pesticides in US Streams and Aquifers
The USGS National Synthesis Project assesses the distribution and influence of pesticides in surface waters, groundwater and the atmosphere, including summaries of US pesticide use by region, crop and chemical compound.

Global Directory of Marine Scientists
The GLODIR is an international data base containing contact and research interest information on marine scientists. An on-line input system is available which allows scientists to submit (and update) individualy entries.

Global Seafloor Topography
A color Mercator projection displaying topography measured (and estimated) from gravity data derived from satellite altimetry and shipboard depth soundings.

Coastal Services Center
NOAA provides an introduction and links to coastal observation systems in US coastal waters. Data made available by individual obsrvatories are variable but some can be accessed here..

Nitrous Oxides and Halocarbons
NOAH is quantifying the distributions and magnitudes of the sources and sinks for atmospheric nitrous oxide (N2O) and halocarbons, sampling from a variety of ground-based, atmosphere and ocean platforms.

Red Tides
A comprehensive summary of the global "red tide" phenomena, including an introductary summary, photomicrographs of algal cells, human and environmental effects, and maps showing outbreak distributions.

Institute of Ecological Economics
The IEE (U. Md) was established to create an integration link between the study and management of "nature's household" (ecology) and "humankind's household" (economics). Ecological ecomonics is the term used to transcend traditional disciplinary barriers and to address interrelationships between ecologic and economic systems.

ECOHAB-Gulf of Maine
A source of information exchange between scientists and other interested parties concerning research into harmful algal blooms ("red tides") in the Gulf of Maine. Using hydrographic, chemical and biological field measurements, researchers are modeling the structure, autoecology, and variability in Gulf red tide habitats.
