MVCO Waves - September
30, 2003
This cross beam was installed on the Coupled Boundary Layer
Air-Sea Transfer (CBLAST) tower in August to support an array
of instruments for studies of near surface circulation dynamics. |

Waves - June 17, 2003
Scott Gallager and crew deployed the Autonomous Vertically Profiling
Plankton Observatory (AVPPO) about 120 m south of the ASIT.
The AVPPO collects data on the vertical position and taxonomic
composition of plankton and environmental data in high-energy
shelf regions of the ocean. |

Waves - April 27, 2003
Biologists Rob Olson and Heidi Sosik are looking forward to
watching the fluctuations of different populations of phytoplankton
through the spring and summer seasons. |

MVCO
Waves - January 8, 2003
Surface Processes and Acoustic Communications Experiments (SPACE)
are conducted at the Air-Sea Interaction Tower (ASIT) about
a mile southwest of the MVCO. |

Waves - October 24, 2002
The newest addition to the observatory is the Air-Sea Interaction
Tower (ASIT), located off the south shore of Martha's Vineyard.
ASIT sensors will measure momentum, heat, and mass exchange
between the atmosphere and the ocean. |

MVCO Waves - May 30,
2002
Divers brought the node up for spring cleaning while bio-fouling,
or the clustering of biological organisms on the instruments,
presented a challenge. |

MVCO Waves - April
12, 2002
Future plans include Coupled Boundary Layer Air-Sea Transfer
(CBLAST) experiments to be conducted at the observatory this
summer. |

MVCO Waves - December 10, 2001
The Marthas Vineyard Coastal Observatory is producing
great data for a growing and diverse scientific community. |
 |
 |
MVCO Waves - November 16, 2001
