The Wood Hole Oceanographic has received word of the death of retiree Gale Nigrelli on October 26, 2009, in Rhode Island. She was 65.
Gale was born on October 18, 1945. She graduated from South Kingstown High School in Wakefield, RI, in 1963. She received her BS in Biology from Tufts University; attended University of Massachusetts, Amherst for microbiology in 1967; and was a non-matriculating graduate student at the University of Rhode Island from 1970 to 1972.
Gale began her career at WHOI in 1974 as a research assistant II in the Chemistry Department. In 1977, was promoted to a research assistant III and in 1979, she was promoted to a research associate. She left the Institution in 1986.
