The Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution has received word of the death of former employee D. Jean Keen on August 1, 2007. She was 85.
Jean was born in Lancaster, PA, on June 19, 1922. She was the daughter of the late Eslie A. Keen Sr. and Mary Fehl Keen.
Jean graduated from Swarthmore College in 1944. She began working at the Institution in 1944 as a technician under Buck Ketchum. She left the Institution in 1953. She was also employed by the U.S. Navy in both Washington D.C. and Mississippi as a Physical Oceanographer, retiring in 1982.
She is survived by her brother, E. Arthur Keen Jr., of Parkesburg, PA.
Funeral arrangements were handled by the Wilde Funeral Home of Parkesburg, PA. Memorial services will be held for Jean at the convenience of the family.
