Scientists and technicians on board R/V Knorr prepare a sound source mooring for deployment in the Indian Ocean. Yellow "hard hats" enclose glass spheres that keep the mooring upright in the water. The sound source is a narrow cylindrical tube within a wire cage. The mooring was set in water about 2,000 meters deep, and extended through about 1,500 meters of the water column.
