Plot of the glider's last 21 positions in gulf stream
PLOT OF THE GLIDER's LAST 21 POSITIONS IN THE GULF STREAM - In the diagram, the black line represents the path of the glider, and each dot represents the beginning or ending of a dive. The numbers provide corresponding dates and times.

The red dot indicates the last position that the glider captured data and sent it to researchers on shore via an e-mail message.

The pink arrow indicates the speed and direction of the glider through the water. The blue arrow indicates the speed of the ocean currents. The vector sum of the two arrows gives the actual speed and direction over the bottom.

The black topography lines show variations in the ocean's depth.
