The Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI) maintains a number of facilities in the village of Woods Hole, Massachusetts, but the aquarium many people associate with Woods Hole is actually operated by a separate, federal agency in the village: the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS), which is part of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
