How do I become a volunteer at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution?Coordinated by the Information Office, the Volunteer Program of the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI) offers both year-round and seasonal opportunities on an as-needed basis. Volunteers learn about the Institution, have access to programs and special events, and enjoy discounts on items purchased in our Exhibit Center Gift Shop. (An online gift shop, displaying a small selection of WHOI merchandise, is available.) Learning about ocean sciences and meeting interesting people from all over the world are, perhaps, the best reasons to participate. Most WHOI volunteers work a three- or four-hour shift once a week, but flexible arrangements can be made. Volunteer opportunities include:
