Fun on the Fraser
July 24, 2013WHOI’s Geodynamics Program fosters interdisciplinary research in the earth sciences among faculty, students and postdoctoral fellows. It is centered around an annual spring semester seminar series and a study tour to visit a location related to the Program’s annual theme. In 2011, participants traveled to the Fraser River watershed in British Columbia, Canada. In addition to rafting a portion of a mountainous tributary, participants evaluated how ecological changes in the watershed—from the headwaters to the delta—may threaten the Fraser River basin as a suitable spawning habitat for salmon.(Photo by Ryan Robinson, for Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution)
