Photo Gallery: Costa Rica Upwelling Dome 2005
In the summer of 2005, we had a 21 day research cruise to the Costa Rica Upwelling Dome. The few times region has been studied for its phytoplankton ecology, it has been dominated by the cyanobacterium Synechococcus (see Saito et al., Limnology and Oceanography 2005). On this cruise, we surveyed the area for Synechococcus distributions and examined the influences of trace metals on the Synechococcus. In addition, we also examined trace metal distributions throughout the oxygen minimum zones of this area.
