Research Interests
-The formation of petroleum in marine basins, marine hydrothermal systems, deltaic and lacustrine environments.
-Biomarkers; molecular fossils preserved in ancient rocks that provide clues about ecosystems and environments of the past.
-Interested in the source, transport, and ultimate fate of petroleum hydrocarbons and other man-made contaminants in the environment.
-Assessing the origin of oil spills, aquifer contamination and the origin of natural oil and gas seeps in the marine environment (petroleum fingerprinting).
-Developing very high resolution chromatographic technology to study environmental systems.
-Monitoring in situ biodegradation of petroleum hydrocarbons in the environment using GC×GC.
