Biographical
Julie Arruda is a registered radiologic technologist who has worked with Dr. Ketten for over 15 years. She has worked as a CT technologist scanning at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution for the past five years.

She received an A. S. in Radiologic Technology from Massachusetts Bay Community College and St. Elizabeth's Medical Center in 1986. Her clinical background includes x-ray technology, CT and MRI modalities. Her license in Radiologic Technology is maintained and annually renewed in conjunction with the American Society of Radiologic Technology and the State of Massachusetts. This annual renewal is based on maintaining 24 hours of continuing education credits biannually. She is also employed as a per-diem MRI/CT technologist at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary in Boston, MA. It is there that she received extensive training in head and neck anatomy and imaging with CT and MRI. She started work with Dr Ketten in 1990 assisting with CT imaging and post-processing of human temporal bone scanning for cochlear implant patients. This led to an interest in Dr. Ketten's marine mammal research.

Julie's primary role at the imaging facility is scanning and multi-format post processing of image data. She also assists in the preparation, collection and handling of specimens. Additionally, she oversees maintenance of the CT scanner, and updates the CT archive database.
