Science Objectives | |
Sea spray aerosol (SSA) impacts the Earth’s radiation budget indirectly by altering cloud properties including albedo, lifetime, and extent, and directly by scattering solar radiation. The overarching scientific objective of WACSII is to characterize the properties of SSA in its freshly emitted stated to improve model calculations of the climate impacts of SSA. In addition, simultaneous measurements of surface seawater will be made to assess the impact of ocean properties on SSA.

Describe deployment method and quantity: Gas tanks We will have around 30 gas tanks. 10 of the tanks are He that can be stored on the main deck. 9 will be used in AL Van on the O1 deck so we need rack storage there (I think most can fit in the van foyer). The rest will be in labs.
