Lat/Lon:
Depth Range: min / max (m)
Will the vessel be operating within 200 NM of a foreign country? no

Science Objectives

repair storm buoy off Scituate, MA

Science Activities

- recover buoy:
I suggest we use two snap hooks. My gear has one, and Ian said last week he has a second. We hook the buoy as usual on its bail, and bring it up slightly out of the water using Tioga winch (run by Ian as usual) until a second pick point on the battery stem becomes available. We hook the second pick point with the second hook (Frank) to get a tag line for steadying the buoy as we bring it on deck.

Once on deck, the buoy repair entails:
- remove one of four solar panels (4 screws, 7/16 wrench required)
- cut tie wraps securing cable
- remove two hex hed screws (3/16 Allen wrench) from top mast
Install the new wind sensor, using reverse steps

Re-deploy buoy, again using a tag line to help tilt the buoy to guide the buoy out the A-frame.

Buoy coordinates:
42 Deg. 13.02'  = 42.2170 Deg. N
70 Deg. 41.94'  = 70.6990 De W
