Although we sincerely hope we'll never have to use them, now we know for sure that the lifeboats are working...

Dispatch 2, July 27, 2007

Underway
This morning the anchors were raised and we started moving. We had to wait near Kugluktuk a little longer than expected to allow a couple of scientists, who had been delayed, to reach Kugluktuk. It's not always easy to reach the Canadian Arctic!

For most of us, the whole day was spent unpacking and getting ready to start doing science: moving boxes, setting up and testing equipment, fixing little problems.

It was also time for the first fire and boat drill. We all got a tour of the ship and were shown the safety features of the Louis St-Laurent.

First CTD station will be tomorrow morning!
