What's Happening Today - Nov.

R/V Atlantis left the dock in Manzanillo today around 7pm. At 10pm, as I write this, we are heading south, making very good speed (around 13 kts) in calm seas. We hope to arrive at the East Pacific Rise crest near 9deg 50'N on Wednesday afternoon.
Yesterday and today we spent unpacking boxes and setting up our equipment. The ABE autonomous underwater vehicle is being set up by Al Bradley, Dana Yoerger, Rod Catanach, Al Duester and Andy Billings. The DSL-120A sonar is being set up by Gary Austin, Pete Collins, Tom Crook, Mark Rognstad, and Bob Waters. We hope to start surveying the EPR crest with the DSL-120A sonar late Wed. night or early Thursday.
Everyone is doing well and we're looking forward to a productive cruise.
More tomorrow on what's going on.
Best Regards,
Dan Fornari
