Job Summary

Reporting to the Director of Management Information Systems supports the Institutions computer hardware and systems for designated client groups.  Serves as the primary support contact and acts as well as acts as a technical liaison to other technical support teams in maintaining departmental websites.



Major Duties
  • Administrator of the Development Department’s donor database system; responsible for upgrades, troubleshooting, and on-going maintenance.
  • In conjunction with department administrators, purchases, install and upgrades and maintains client group’s computer related equipment and software.
  • Assesses Development’s software and hardware needs and researches new resources for applicable technology to enhance or improve overall department operations and productivity.
  • Acts as a project lead for major software and installations and upgrades for designated client groups.
  • Works with various departments and external vendors to implement technical projects and purchases on behalf of the designated client groups.
  • Using HTML code, graphic images, and other web-based applications, update and maintain Development department’s web sites.
  • Develops and maintains appropriate documentation to assure proper viability and security of systems.
  • Provides computer hardware and software related assistance related to diagnostic and troubleshooting assistance to designated client groups.
  • Assess departmental and researches, investigate and recommends appropriate technological applications, processes and/or solutions.
  • Stays up-to-date with related technologies at WHOI, features and function of computer operating systems and application software.


Desired Qualifications for Hire

High School or equivalent plus four years’ of experience, or Technical School training plus two years’ practical experience, or two to three years’ progress toward a computer science related degree.



Physical Aspects of Job

The worker is subject to a busy office environment.  The job is sedentary work involving sitting most of the time. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
