Job Summary Reporting to the Assistant Facilities Director, is responsible for supervising the monitoring, operating, repairing and installing of all mechanical and related facility process systems in a major segment of Institution buildings and laboratories (Quissett and Woods Hole) to ensure safe and efficient continued scientific and administrative operations and maintenance; work is in accordance with appropriate building codes and safety regulations. Requires minimal direction through training and/or work experience; is highly skilled in several trades, enabling the application of technical knowledge to perform most assigned tasks independent of supervision; unusual and unprecedented situations are reviewed with Assistant Facilities Director. Major Duties
Desired Education/Experience for Hiring Trade school certification(s) representing demonstrated technical knowledge in several of the work areas, building codes and safety regulations related to the position or equivalent on-the-job training; minimum 10 years directly related experience with building equipment operation and maintenance, including heating equipment of 50 horsepower or larger and refrigeration equipment of 30 ton capacity or larger, including 2 years supervisory experience. Will be expected to qualify for required local, state, and federal licenses and certifications. Must have demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment as well as commitment to working collaboratively with colleagues.
