Job Summary Reporting to the Communications and Development Administrator, with minimal supervision, performs a variety of accounting duties in support of the Development Office, requiring knowledge of Institution accounting, policies and procedures and CASE, FASB and GASB accounting standards. Works closely with the Controller's Office.
Major Duties
- Responsible for remaining informed of CASE, FASB and GASB accounting regulations and applying them to gift coding, reporting, receipting, acknowledgment and designation.
- Reconciles monthly gift accounting records with Controller's Office for accuracy of gift allocations. Provides accounting personnel with general ledger allocations.
- Generates daily, monthly and yearly financial accounting reports produced by Development staff.
- May verify accuracy of financial accounting reports produced by Development staff.
- Gift accounting responsibilities include gift assessment (i.e., appropriate account designation and crediting), constituent data maintenance, gift entry, generation of tax receipts, thank you letters (including monitoring all special letters required), and producing pledge reminders.
- Responsible for cross-training backup support for gift accounting and monitoring accuracy.
- Responsible for creation and accuracy of annual Donor Report list.
- Responsible for scanning local paper for constituent related information and obituaries.
- Works with Communications and Development Administrator to create and maintain policies and procedures for consistency in gift reporting.
- Assists Communications and Development Administrator/Development Office with general office priorities when schedule permits.
- May be required to assist at department fund raising events.
- Monitors and reconcile FSRs.
- Performs other duties as the supervisor may, from time to time, deem necessary.
