Job Summary
Reporting to the Manager of Treasury Operations, is responsible for handling the cash management needs of the Institution. Works closely with the Accounts Receivable Office, the Development Office and Exhibit Center to ensure proper reporting of receipts. Works closely with the Procurement Office on wire transfer transactions. Communicates frequently with various financial institutions on behalf of WHOI.

Major Duties
  • Responsible for wire transfer operations and other electronic payments;

  • Receives, monitors and deposits all incoming funds (cash, checks, electronic transfers);

  • Reports cash flow activity to Manager of Treasury Operations on a daily basis;

  • Properly records all receipts of funds, electronic transfers, and other miscellaneous financial transactions in general ledger system;

  • Maintains professional working relationship with officials from various financial institutions;

  • Manages credit card operations;

  • Responsible for check reversals, stop payments and retrieval of check copies through on-line banking system;

  • Receives and disburses petty cash;

  • Performs a variety of tasks as required;

  • As back up to Manager of Treasury Operations:
    • Determines daily cash requirements and transfers;
    • Communicates transfer activity to investment managers;
    • Initiates transfers to limited partnerships (capital calls) in accordance with commitments.

  • Performs all other duties as the supervisor may, from time to time, deem necessary.


Job Specifications (Knowledge, skills and abilities normally required for competent performance in the job)
Associates degree in related field with 5-7 years of directly related experience preferred. Must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with both internal and external contacts. Must be familiar with standard accounting principles and concepts. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail is critical. Works with minimal direction and relies on experience and judgment to accomplish goals
