Job Summary
As part of the Communications Team, operates, schedules and maintains audiovisual services for the WHOI community.  Ensures end user satisfaction by responding to requests for audiovisual services in a timely and efficient manner.  Assists with a variety of information display and publication tasks in Graphic Services.

Major Duties
  • Organizes and maintains Institution conference room presentation facilities.
  • Transports and sets up audiovisual equipment.
  • Maintains and upgrades audiovisual equipment; troubleshoots, repairs, or coordinates repair of audiovisual equipment.  Makes recommendations for equipment purchase, system design, and facility utilization.
  • Provides projectionist services for seminars, lectures and other events. 
  • Video records seminars, lectures and other events upon request. 
  • Operates and troubleshoots Picture Tel teleconferencing units.  Provides system operation for distance learning classes. 
  • Assists individuals in the operation of audiovisual equipment; provides training and instruction to WHOI community. 
  • Assists with various other Graphic Services operations such as display preparation, publication distribution, framing and signage. 
  • Performs other duties as the supervisor may, from time to time, deem necessary.


Desired Education/Experience for Hiring
Two-year college degree or technical certification desired.  Experience with LCD projectors, overhead projectors, 35mm slide projectors,VCRs, Camcorders, monitors and other multimedia equipment.  Computer experience a plus.  Must be able to lift 50 pounds.  Must possess excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.  Some flexibility with work schedule may be necessary.  Ability and willingness to go to sea may be required.
