Major Duties
  • Operate, schedule and maintain multimedia production facility.  Work with scientists, staff and students to assemble video and electronic media for instruction, presentation, Internet and broadcast purposes.  Operate and maintain video tape duplication equipment.  Responsible for evaluating and upgrading facility as necessary.
  • Edits video, audio, movie footage with technical and artistic considerations.
  • Provide video tape and audio services for events.
  • Operate and troubleshoot current distance learning / teleconferencing gear for microwave link broadcasts for WHOI/MIT Joint Program classes.  Will be responsible for set-up and maintenance of new PictureTel teleconferencing unit(s).
  • Maintain and upgrade electronic display equipment and materials for public exhibit center.
  • Maintain and upgrade equipment for on site conference rooms.  Work as projectionist when necessary.  Oversee general condition and appearance of conference rooms and suggest and implement improvements.
  • Design and create 2-D & 3-D animation for various platforms. 
  • Instruct and schedule support staff as necessary.


Desired Education/Experience for Hiring
Proven skills in interacting with a wide variety of people, working under tight deadlines, and handling multiple projects simultaneously.  Experience in all phases of video production including shooting and editing, linear and non-linear.  Familiar with all tape formats including VHS, S-VHS, Hi8, 8mm, U Matic, Betacam SP and digital tape formats and related equipment.  Working knowledge of Macintosh desktop digital video software and hardware and cross-platform file compatibility.  Knowledge of Adobe Premiere, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe After Effects, Macromedia Director, MetaTools Infini D and other Macintosh production software.  Knowledge of video and audio recording gear including microphone and PA system configurations and setup.  Knowledge of multimedia presentation/projection equipment.
