If your question is not answered here, send it to
matman.
1.1: What is the Group License
from MathWorks?
A: The Group License combines the licenses for Windows
2000, XP and NT platforms together with licensing for unix, linux and MAC OS X
operating systems. top
1.2: Do I have to participate in the Group
License?
A: No. Users may continue to use their own existing licenses.
However, the Group License will provide users with more toolbox
options than they currently have and comes at no extra cost to those
who participate. top
1.3: What MathWorks products are included
in the Group License?
A: As of MATLAB 7: MATLAB and Simulink, and the following
toolboxes:
Bioinformatics
Communications Toolbox
Compiler
Control System
Data Acquisition
Database
Fuzzy Logic
Image Processing
Instrument Control
Link for Code Composer Studio
Mapping
Neural Network
Optimization
Partial Differential Equation
Robust Control
Signal Processing
Simulink Control Design
Symbolic Math
System Identification
Spline
Statistics
Virtual Reality
Wavelet
1.4: I've just renewed my own matlab licenses
or purchased a new toolbox that is covered by the Group License.
Can I get a refund or credit?
A: MathWorks' standard return policies will apply in these
cases. Basically, if you've purchased or renewed a MathWorks product
within the last 30 days, you may return it for a refund. For periods
exceeding 30 days, MathWorks will suggest that you continue using
that license or you may use the Group License. top
1.5: Can I use the new Group License along
with my own license?
A: No, there is no mechanism in place that allows you
to run a combined set of licenses. You must either use your own
license or the Group License, but not both. top
1.6: What happens if I decide to participate
in the Group License now but find that I want to return to using
my own license later on?
A: MathWorks has indicated that regular renewals of individual
licenses cost 20% of the then current pricing. To renew an individual
contract that has expired because you've been enrolled in the Group
License plan will cost 35% of the then current pricing. top
1.7: Can I install all the matlab products
available to us under the Group License on all my machines?
A: While we're entitled to install and use the above listed
products, we must note that unlike the previous unix and linux Site
License, the Group License has limits on the number of products
installed on WHOI machines. CIS strongly encourages folks to not
install any more products than they would expect to use normally.
Since this Group License is not tied to a license server, WHOI is
on its honor to not abuse this new Group License by exceeding the
number of machines on which matlab and toolboxes are installed.
Exceeding the pre-set limits on installed matlab products will move
WHOI out of contract compliance and may result in criminal and/or
civil penalties. top
1.8: The Group License doesn't have a toolbox
that I'm using or would like to use. Can we add it?
A: Every effort was made during the formulation of this Group
License to include all toolboxes in use at the Institution so that
none would be omitted. If you feel your toolbox is missing from
the Group License or would like to add a new toolbox to the Group
License, please tell matman
top
1.9: How do I get the licenses?
A: The licenses will be generally available from CIS at the
matlab license download web page.
To better track usage of matlab and associated products, a mechanism
has been established to monitor the downloading of license files.
Please try to fill in any requested information as completely and
accurately as possible. top
1.10: How do I get the software?
A: Information on getting the software can be found at the
matlab installation web page.
