Shortcuts
Bypass the startup disk and boot from another
volume
On reboot, hold down all of these keys at the same time:
Command + Option + Shift + Delete
Extension Manager
Bring up Extension Manager at startup by holding down the Space
Bar.
Close Finder windows
While starting up, hold down the Option key.
Disable All Extensions
Hold down the Shift key during startup.
Disable Startup Items
Hold down the Shift key after Extensions have loaded and
as your Desktop appears
Disable Virtual Memory
Hold down the Command key on startup.
Force a Reboot
Hold down the Command + Control + Power-on keys. Always
rebuild the desktop after a forced reboot.
Force Quit an application
Hold down the Command + Option + Esc keys. Always restart
the computer and rebuild the desktop after a forced quit.
Start Up from a Bootable CD
Hold down the letter c key upon reboot.
Rebuild Desktop
Hold down the Command + Option keys during startup, until
the Desktop appears.
Zap the PRAM
Hold down the Command + Option + P + R keys during the
restart sequence. Let the computer "bong" four times before lifting
the keys. Be sure to check Appletalk and Date and Time Control
panels.
